In the summer of 2005, the partners of GSD Event Productions were on the hook to promote the national cyclo-cross championships. Three venues had been rejected. Lyle Fulkerson brazenly asked Providence officials to hold the event on the grounds of the Rhode Island State House.After flatly rejecting that proposal, officials directed him to Roger Williams Park, just three miles south. Each of the three partners toured the park separately; each were stunned. The amenities, the topography, and the beauty of the park sang out. They had found a Valhalla of American cyclo-cross.

Three days of UCI sanctioned racing Oct 3-5, 2014
Friday, October 3- Builders Ball and early race # pick-up
Saturday, October 4- Providence International, a Category 1 UCI event
Sunday, October 5-the grand finale to New England’s Holy Week of Cyclo-cross
Racers expected to attend from U.S., Canada, Europe, New Zealand, and Australia
Massive consumer and industry Expo including personal “swap” area
Kids activities including the bounce house and Kim Fries Memorial Kids Cross Race
More than 10,000 spectators, participants and exhibitors expected each day.

The Harpoon Beer Tent is in full operation and the smells coming from the Food Court is making us all hungry for more. The infield of the Providence Cyclo-cross Festival is nearly as famous as its race course. At the center of great ‘cross is great food. Anchored by the Harpoon Beer Garden, which overlooks the famous “Table Top,” is the food court. This is far more than burgers. Mijos Tacos provides the perfect compliment to a Harpoon IPA. Barbecue, Pizza, and even Vegan desserts are featured. The staff works hard to provide a diverse array of food offerings and a great venue to enjoy food while racing.
